Hi ,

A version is a draft which can change based on the audience prior to release.

A revision is a change after release that must be communicated to one audience.

I hope this helps.

Hi Ramesh,

Version is a unique number which is assigned to a documents or software or systems!! Version number is assigned to distinguish different stages of the documents when they are drafted, reviewed, finalized or modified.

Revision is a process to change that  number and assign a new version number!

Hi,
Most of the documents which I have come across are controlled by version & the edition number. Where the new document would be version 1 edition 1 when released and if any minor revision (modification, amendment, change or correction) will lead into version change as version 2 but edition will be 1 & "Edition" change will be, when releasing a complete re-wrtite of a document.

I think we can replace edition by revision.

Warm regards
Seema :)
